Downriver Youth Performing Arts Center (DYPAC) is a charitable, non-profit 501c3 organization founded in 1998. DYPAC involves young people ages 5 to 19 in three major theatrical productions per year and also offers a Summer Fine Arts Camp. In addition, DYPAC performs for local service organizations, charitable causes, and community events. The Trenton Village Theatre is the "Home of DYPAC" and DYPAC has worked diligently to promote and upgrade this facility. DYPAC's mission is to offer opportunities for quality arts entertainment to southeast Michigan communities and the development of a state-of-the-art performing arts center. Our next workshops will begin again in September ( AGES 5-14). Ages 5-8 meet 10am-noon, ages 9+ meet 1-3pm at the Trenton Village Theatre. We have just completed another phase of renovations to the theatre! We have beautiful new purple draperies and the interior of the theatre has been painted! We thank you, our community, for your wonderful support!

Plenty of DYPAC members or former DYPAC members participated in the American Guild of Music Regional Contest this past weekend. Jenna Proffitt took 1st place in Test List Vocal Broadway and 2nd place in Test List Solo- others who participated please let us know! Congratulations to all!
DYPAC Alumni ( a witch in the 1998 DYPAC Wizard of Oz Production) Emily Richett ( who also hosted our 2008 Emerald City Gala) appeared in her National Television Debut on February 14th on WDV television as host of “Somewhere in Time.” Emily is also a Fox News reporter, based in Grand Rapids-
we are all so very proud!!
DYPAC Alumni, Alicia Jaros ( a Dorothy from the 1998 DYPAC Wizard of Oz Production) has been crowned Miss Capitol City and is competing for Miss Michigan! Alicia has many pageant titles to her credits and we all are rooting for her!
DYPAC Member Shelby Eckman (5 Years Old) sang the National Anthem for the Trenton Rotary on 12/10 at the Grosse Ile Country Club for the 21st Annual Wild Game Luncheon. She was invited by Bill LeFever and she received a $50 savings bond! We are so proud of her!
Kara Pepper auditioned in Los Angeles for the Disney Lion King Broadway play…. and out of 105 kids Kara made it! She had to dance and sing… and she landed the role of Nala! She will kick off her tour in May of 2009. Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, Kara will not be able to take the role, but we are very proud of her nonetheless!

Our beautiful new PURPLE draperies have been installed and the interior of the theatre has been painted! Thank you to St. John Painting and Homespun for their dedication to completion of this task! We are thrilled with the painting, the draperies, and the installation of the carpeting with our donor stars!
The TVT Courtyard is being remodeled. It will contain a memorial fountain and
has a new decorative Iron Gate. Thank you to the Brown Family and the
Trenton Chapter of the Women’s Farm and Garden Association for making
this possible.

Trivia Night- DYPAC, along with our community Partners, The Information Center and The Penrickton Center host a fun evening of trivia and friendship, served with a light dinner. Join a table of eight to show (or hide) your trivia skills!
Tickets are $20 and proceeds go to the programs of the evening’s hosting community partner! The Next trivia is Thursday, May 7th ( to benefit Penrickton) and will be held at the Westfield Building next to the Library at West and Westfield in Trenton. Winners receive a trophy and gift certificate along with a chance to return and defend their title! Dinner begins at 6pm, trivia starts at 7pm. Food, Fun, and Friendship! A few photos from last summer!
Our Summer Program will start June 23 and runs( T,W,Th) through Jul 30 with the final performances July 30 &31. Enrollment numbers determine need for multiple nights for the Grand Finale. YOUR CHILD WILL BE IN EITHER ONE OR TWO NIGHTS DEPENDING UPON THE NUMBER OF CLASSES YOUR CHILD TAKES. Each night is a different list of classes performing. Our program meets T, W, Th for 6 weeks, with two nights of “Grand Finale” performances! Classes are filled as enrollment is received. If for example, you choose choir at 11:15, you would come each T,W,Th at 11:15 for six weeks.
Favorite classes and smaller classes fill quickly, so register early!
* We will accept enrollment as long as there are openings!
Please follow directions on forms for signing up! Read age limits and class sizes. A $50 deposit is required to hold your child’s place and is non-refundable. Limited pre and after daycare is available. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent.
