About Us

Downriver Youth Performing Arts Center (DYPAC) is a charitable, non-profit 501c3 organization founded in 1998. DYPAC involves young people ages 5 to 19 in three major theatrical productions per year and also offers a Summer Fine Arts Camp. In addition, DYPAC performs for local service organizations, charitable causes, and community events. The Trenton Village Theatre is the "Home of DYPAC" and DYPAC has worked diligently to promote and upgrade this facility. DYPAC's mission is to offer opportunities for quality arts entertainment to southeast Michigan communities and the development of a state-of-the-art performing arts center. DYPAC Annual Meeting Tuesday, July 29th 7:30 pm. Report of the past fiscal year and snacks!
All welcome.

Director Desired for Wizard of Oz Due to medical needs of Karen Bonner, she will no longer be able to direct Wizard of Oz. The position is open to proposals by any interested directors.
Please respond by submitting a proposal to dypac@dypac.com. We hope to maintain the same production dates, but all proposals will be considered. This cast is scheduled for ages 5-19. Please respond by July 25 if interested.

  • The Gala was an evening of great adventure!! Thanks to all who supported this event! Over 500 people were in attendance! The young performers were the highlight of the evening! And, the weather, albeit warm, held off on the rain. A quote from Glinda ” You have no power here…” proved true, but the evening continued to be enjoyed! Thank you to ALL of the dozens of volunteers who made it all possible.. literally thousands and thousands of volunteer hours created( and cleaned up) this event! Thank you to all..you are the spirit of community!

Our next workshops will begin again in September and registration is almost full. If you would like to enroll in the September Saturday workshops, please email dypac@dypac.com with the participant’s name, age as of September 6, parents’ names, address, telephone and email address. Classes are held Saturday mornings for ages 5-8, and afternoons for ages 9-14. Sessions are 6 weeks long with a final performance.Download Fall 08 Workshop Info Here

Thanks to Josie and Jeanette Palmer who sang the US and Canadian nathional anthems for Roar on the River, a Trenton rotary Event.

Sarah Mikota was chosen as one of three named characters in the upcoming student film Felicity. Sarah plays Jennifer, a young beauty pageant contestant, and will be singing the 1908 version of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” The director of Felicity was originally from the Metro-Detroit area. She worked at Mosaic Youth Theatre for a few years before deciding to pursue Film School, and from there, went on to New York. What a great opportunity! Way to go, Sarah!

Trenton Village Theatre

DYPAC, in cooperation with The City of Trenton, manages the Trenton Village Theatre. TVT is a gem of a live performance venue. It has an intimate setting and seats 355. Please contact Debbie Jackson at 734 671-2202 or dypac@dypac.com for rental information and availability.

Trivia Night- DYPAC, along with our community Partners, The Information Center and The Penrickton Center host a fun evening of trivia and friendship, served with a light dinner. Join a table of eight to show (or hide) your trivia skills!
Tickets are $20 and proceeds go to the programs of the evening’s hosting community partner! The Next trivia is Wednesday, July 30 ( to benefit DYPAC) and will be held at the Westfield Building next to the Library at West and Westfield in Trenton. Winners receive a trophy and gift certificate along with a chance to return and defend their title! Dinner begins at 6pm, trivia starts at 7pm. Food, Fun, and Friendship! Fine Arts Camp

Summer Program information will be available April 1, 2008.* Camp will start June 24 and runs through Jul 31 with the final performances July 31, August 1, and August 2. Enrollment numbers determine need for multiple nights for the Grand Finale..

Students may enroll in one class, or may take a day’s worth of classes.
There is a choice of 4 classes per 45minute session. Each session is a flat fee.
You may pay by credit card by clicking the “Donation” button on home page and entering amounts or you may mail check to address on form. EVERY class is the same time each day and every class is T,W,TH.
If you only want full day on Wednesday, for example, you would still pay the full fee. Theatre classes do not work well for partial attendance so please select thoughtfully. We do realize there will be vacations, etc.

Classes are all on a a first enrollment basis and fill up quickly! A non-refundable $50 deposit is needed to hold their place( which is applied to course fees.) $65 per course for each for the full six week session. Some discounts apply and some materials fees apply. Classes are three days a week-t,w,th- and those enrolled will attend the same time those three days per week for the six weeks. There is no class on July 4. Classes having an * have a material fee. 4 classes are offered per time slot. Choices made will be the same choice for the six week period.
Age guidelines are adhered to.
